As the United States government grows more nervous about the dangers of drugs, and all forms of illegal narcotics, medical marijuana is increasingly becoming a topic of discussion. At present, a small minority of states in the United States allow doctors to recommend Medical marijuana for sale to patients.
However, it should be noted that the use of marijuana is not presently legal in the United States. Only Colorado and Washington have legalised the medical use of marijuana.
The USA is the only developed country which continues to allow people to use all sorts of illegal drugs, such as cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and methamphetamines. Most other countries have outlawed or severely restricted the use of drugs for many years.
Medical marijuana has become more accepted by politicians, medical professionals and drug addiction agencies in recent years, as the level of addictive drugs has spiralled out of control in recent years. The medical community is also concerned that restricting the use of medical marijuana will reduce access to other alternative treatments, such as rehab and other rehabilitation options.
Since the USA and many other nations have outlawed and severely restricted the use of other drugs, the entire drugs industry has been severely affected. Several large multinational corporations have been put out of business. Many smaller, less known companies have been driven out of business.
Doctors are forced to charge large amounts of money to keep their hospitals afloat and many hospitals have been forced to close their doors due to the financial problems experienced by many families. Many small businesses have been affected as well. Many smaller companies have closed and their employees have had to find employment elsewhere.
This is true in America as it is in many other countries around the world where an increasing number of people are becoming addicted to heroin addiction. In the USA, the problem of heroin addiction is often equated with a large number of illegal drugs. However, heroin and other illegal drugs often come from medical drug plants which have been genetically modified.
Because of the medical advantages of medical marijuana, more people are now using it as an alternative to highly addictive, harmful and potentially lethal drugs. For example, medical marijuana can be used to treat obesity, chronic pain, nausea and motion sickness, to name just a few ailments.
Today, there are tens of thousands of people all over the USA who regularly use medical marijuana to treat various ailments. It is estimated that there are at least 40 million Americans that currently use marijuana on a regular basis.
Scientists from around the world are actively pursuing the production of cannabis plants for medicinal use. It should be noted that there are several countries, especially in Europe, which have recognised the medicinal value of marijuana. These countries have included it in their drug legislation and have made it a controlled substance.
Marijuana is thought to be very effective in treating certain types of cancer, anxiety, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, multiple sclerosis, HIV/AIDS, epilepsy, schizophrenia, etc. And it is also being used successfully to relieve the pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
Despite the fact that it is not currently legal in the USA, many people do buy cannabis from online retailers in the USA in order to get a large number of these medications. The FDA is currently engaged in a prolonged debate as to whether marijuana should be included in its regulations as a schedule one drug.
